Oral Care For Mans Best Friend

Oral Care For Mans Best Friend

A couple of years ago we noticed one of our dogs, a deer faced 7 year old Chihuahua, had developed really bad breath. We had recently changed his food but that still did not account for the smell. We consulted his vet, and were told his teeth needed cleaning, which would cost about $200.00. We considered having it done, until finding out they would have put him to sleep while doing the work. Then one of my daughters friends shared, that she had lost a dog after taking her in for teeth cleaning. The dog never woke up. As a result we set out to find a safer means of having Baby’s teeth cleaned. It took a while but we found someone that had a business cleaning dogs teeth without any type of anesthetic. This guy was great and Baby’s teeth came out amazingly clean, and his  breath was minty fresh. We could not believe it. However, after observing him we realized we could do the same thing. Baby gets his teeth brushed on a regular basis. Following are some slides to show how easy it is. Brushing your dogs teeth is very important. It will prolong and improve their quality of life. Take a look at the slide show provided. http://pets.webmd.com/video/how-to-brush-dogs-teeth You can also purchase special tooth paste for dogs at the pet stores.

Quick And Easy Dog Food Recipe.

Out of concern for the health of our two Chihuahua’s(Baby and Molly) I decided to make  homemade dog food, rather than purchase it commercially. That was about three years ago and I am very happy with the results. The first thing I noticed was the improvement in their coats. Molly was really the problem child in this area. Molly, being whats referred to as a Chug (a Chihuahua mixed with Pug) had an major shedding problem, she still sheds because of her breed, but it is not as bad as it was. I also noticed her coat became a lot softer. Baby our Deer Faced Chihuahua at 54 in dog years is extremely happy and energetic. He reminds us of a puppy! For this reason I decided to publish one of the recipes I have used for the last 3 years. I have several others but, this is the fastest and easiest for those where time is an issue.
First of all I try to stick with chicken. However, because of the bone issue, I only use the thigh. This way I only have to deal with taking out one bone. So if I cook 5 thighs I only have to take out 5 bones. I have also used a frozen turkey which is processed like a breakfast sausage. If you would like information on that product let know and I will make sure you recieve it. The Chicken thighs I purchase are flash frozen, and I usually pick them up in the frozen food section of Food4Less,or Ralphs. The package contains about 12 thighs and cost about $3.50. I am paying a lot less for their food by making it myself.
Also, portions will vary depending on the size of your dog, or dogs. Consequently, you will have to guess at how much of each ingredient to use at first. You can use the portions of commercial food that you feed your dogs as a guide. Homemade food tends to be more filling than commercial. Therefore, your dog won’t require as much.
Ingredients:
4 Chicken thighs
1/4th cup frozen mixed vegetables
1/4th cup cooked brown rice(you can also purchase the instant brown rice to save time)
1 tsp powdered chicken broth
*******************************
1. cook 4 chicken thighs in the crock pot until tender.
2. When chicken is done I remove from Crock Pot, let cool and take out the bones
3. Chop chicken up according to the size you feel appropriate for the dogs.
I chop up about 1/4th cup of frozen vegetables in the blender.  Add a tablespoon of the chicken broth and chop, until vegetable pieces are medium to small, depending on size of the dog. Molly likes to take the vegetables out of her bowl, set them to the side and go back and eat them when she is done.
Then I put in about 1/4th cup of brown rice.
And finally 1 tsp of chicken broth.
Mix it all together and serve.
To ensure proper storage: Refrigerate in airtight containers.
I also store their food by placing individual portions in small baggies and keeping them in the freezer.
One final word. Vitamins are also very important. I always add Hi-Vite liquid vitamins to their food. Just a couple drops per bowl for little dogs.

Homeless? There Is No Place To Go But Up!

Having been homeless twice in my life, I can attest to the fact, that is is the easiest way to recover your life, when handled properly. First is all it should not be viewed as a permanent situation. Consequently, it is not about how others view you,it is about how you view your self. Primarily, how you carry yourself. people will treat you accordingly. I made it a point of acting as if I was the Queen of England visiting the homeless shelter, and as a result I had a great deal of favor with the staff and counselors.
When people see you as a survivor and not a victim, they will bend over backwards to help you return to being a productive member of society. The only things that should keep people (under normal circumstances) on the streets more than 6 months are drugs, mental illness,or a lack of reaching out for help. I am not saying that it is easy to get off the streets ,but what I am saying is if you constantly remind yourself you deserve better, you will find other’s viewing  you as deserving better. The Social Worker, the Probation Officer, the Shelter Staff will all become your greatest alie’s. Your external circumstances do not determine who you are internally. Lets face it folks, we live in the greatest country on earth. Be blessed on your way back up!

Big Dreams!

Dreams. Acting, singing, modeling, maybe it’s nothing big, maybe opening a restaurant or a certain store. It can be anything. Anything in the world. But how do you achieve it? Well, there’s ONE simple answer to that question.Confidence. Confidence is the main thing you need to achieving your dream. Be confident that you can do it. Want it more than anything. You have to chase after your dreams, no matter how much you fail and how long it will take you and no matter who will bring you down and try to stop you from chasing your dream. Don’t hang around people who are just going to bring you down. This is your life, your dream, your responsibility. Do anything you can to make your dream come true. That’s the only way that it will happen- have confidence, and you must be strong. Strong, so you can take whatever obsticles get in your way in the process of getting where you want to be. You’ll fail. You’ll cry. People will bring you down. But don’t lose confidence. If you lose confidence, than it will be impossible. Stay confident, have hope, and even in the end if it’s not meant to be, keep doing what you love.

Biblical Principles For Recession Proof Living

I believe there are certain principles, when adhered to give  protection from any form of economic adversity. I have personally been able to test them, and they have never failed. There was a time when I had no income for over three years, and these principles produced unbelievable miracles. There are 24 of these principles, but I will only share one per week for the next 24 Sunday’s.
Principle#1  Rise Up Early To Meet the Lord.
This principle is extremely important. It sets the tone for your entire day. By giving God control of your day. You are able to be at peace with anything that comes your way. I remember when my kids were still in school and I was working for straight commission, selling photo packages. I would get to the office early and start reading my bible,  and it was amazing what God would do for me. I remember one time it was the last day of the week and I had no sales, then out of nowhere 2 military people came in ,right before closing and purchased our largest package with cash. Everyone was shocked, except me. I expected God would come through, as long as I kept him first. My day belonged to Him.  I hope this will be a blessing to you and yours!
Proverbs 8:17
I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

The Help You Have Been Praying For!

As a result of difficult economic times many people over the age of fifty are entering the world of Internet Marketing. As baby boomers we made a vow to never grow old. Consequently, we bring youth and vitality to the marketplace mixed with wisdom.
What Iam about to share may help make that transition a little smoother. First of all when I decided to transition from traditional, or old school marketing, I immediately had a rude awakening. I understood the ways of the world but, not the ways of cyberspace. As a result I had many people promise me many things for their own benefit, and self promotion. Yes my feelings got a little bruised in the process but, I realized, just like every thing else in this life there is good and bad. This allowed me to continue my quest, knowing I would find people with integrity of heart, that would be there to assist me on my journey. Fortunately, I have always understood the importance of mentors, and have also understood they don’t have to be someone you know personally. For many years Donald Trump was my only mentor. However, God has blessed me with 3 more that I have never met personally, but feel very close to. It took me over 2 yrs to find these ladies, but it has been worth the wait. Four mentors may seem like alot, but I am a firm believer that there is wisdom in a multitude of counselors, and it takes a village to raise a child. That being said, I hope this has helped someone struggling to find people on the the Internet that truly have a heart for helping people succeed. If you would like the names of these ladies, please contact me, and I would be more than happy to share that information with you. I also have a post on my blog: What To Look For In A Mentor August 18,2012, Which will give you some indepth insight.  Wishing you great success!

Make Money Online – Your Mind May Be Out Of Shape

If you want to make money online, you are going to have to embody the right mindset. In case you are unaware, your mind is an essential tool in commanding the events which take place in your life. Your mind has the propensity to shape our lives from all angles, whether it be how we engage with others, to our physical state. Thus, you need to shape your mind in a manner which will allow you to make money online.
Developing positive thoughts towards making money and the ability to do so is the first step to making money online. To do this, we must first understand that success is more than simply being fortunate. Success is a mindset. It is a way of interacting in our lives. Success is a way of thinking.
Absolutely embodying a mental state which will enable you to make money online is easier said than done. However, practice makes perfect. The following six step process will aid you in shaping your mental state, and enable to make money online:
1. Be thankful for what you currently have in your life. At times, things can seem very negative in your circle. Just realize that they can be much, much worse than they are. The problem with us as humans is that we tend to focus on what we do not have, rather than what we have. Sit down and think of all of the things which you are grateful for. Doing this will allow you to shift your focus from a negative one to a positive one.
2. Utilize positive affirmations to begin training yourself to think positively. Use “I am” statements such as “I am worthy of making $XXXX per day online.” This is no time to be shy. Write the statements down and repeat them nightly before bed. Over time, this will implant these thoughts into your subconscious mind, and you will begin to naturally believe them.
3. Visualization can help you to achieve prosperity. You do this by determining what it is you wish to achieve, and then thoroughly creating that image in your mind. This works in the same way affirmations do. Our subconscious will fill with images of prosperity, and eventually these subconscious “truths” will manifest in the physical. “View” yourself as being prosperous, and you will become so.
4. You need to tell yourself that you are primed to accomplish greatness. This will be a motivating factor in your mental state. In fact, you can make this one of your positive affirmations. If you do so, you will need to expand on it. For instance, if you are aware that you can make a few hundred dollars online each year, you need to tell yourself that you can make money online in the six figure range each year. Do not keep yourself from believing that this is possible. If you allow yourself to believe, you will acquire the confidence to take yourself there. If you believe that in the end you will be successful, you will be more willing to take the necessary steps to get to the end and make money online.
5. Start a savings account. I know this sounds strange. However, like attracts like. Even if you can only afford to put a few dollars into your account every month, it will begin to build up and attract more money.
6. See yourself as already being affluent. Our minds are creative. Thus, if we focus on being affluent, we will focus our power and attention on becoming affluent. Conversely, if we keep focusing on debt and a lack of money, we will attract more of the same. Your focus on affluence creates the propulsion to make money online.
What you need to realize is that changing your mentality is a process which takes time. Nevertheless, your focus, dedication and consistency will take you exactly where you envision your future. As soon as you are able to master the power of your thoughts and the effect that they have on your everyday life, you will be able to make money online without boundaries.

What To Look For In A Mentor

Every good mentor — or mentor couple — should have these qualities.

The following checklist is a rather detailed, point-by-point academic exercise to help you find the ideal mentor for you. This checklist is only an attempt to help bring clarity in defining the kind of person for whom you are looking.
But even before you start reading this checklist, let me suggest that what you’re really looking for is a person that you know cares for you, believes in you, and naturally encourages you. A good mentor is a person you enjoy being with, who has more experience than you have, and who would be happy to help you win in life. If you already have that person in mind, this checklist will only confirm your intuitive guess that this person would make a great mentor.
The checklist is also helpful if you have two or three mentors to consider, but cannot determine which one you will ask. The mentoring checklist can bring out a few fine points that may help you make your final decision.

Before you choose a mentor, check to see if s/he has these qualities:

Your Ideal Mentor Is…
  1. Honest With YouFor example, one of my male protégés was very much a man but he had effeminate gestures. When the time was right, after several hours of talking about a wide variety of topics, I decided the time had come to be dangerously candid. I actually had to teach this friend how to use his hands and his head. That’s an example of raw honesty that was objective enough to help the protégé see clearly his potential and also the roadblocks keeping him from that potential. It’s a little like being a loving uncle or aunt, someone who will take you aside on occasion and tell you things you need to hear but frankly don’t necessarily want to hear.
  2. A Model for YouThomas Carlyle’s words are worth repeating: “Be what you would have your pupils to be.” When I take my associate team along for client consultations I ask them, “What did you learn by watching me as well as by listening to me?” Part of your mentor’s role is teaching you by letting you watch her/him, in addition to telling you things.
  3. Deeply Committed to YouIt may be a little difficult to see a mentor or a protégé as family. The Apostle Paul, when writing to his young protégé, Timothy, captures this thought when he said, “Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity” (1 Timothy 5;1). Even though they are probably not blood relatives, see both your mentor and your protégé with a family level of commitment.
  4. Open and TransparentCheryl, my wife, often encourages me, “Your associate team only hears about your successes. Let them hear also about your failures.” I have to watch very carefully that I tell my associate team not only when I have won, but also when I have lost and feel like a failure. For example, my associates often get the false impression that I am always “feeling like I’m on top of the world” because I am typically “up” when I’m with them. When they learned I have several days a year when I am deeply discouraged and feel depressed, they realized that being a consultant wasn’t only for “super positive” people, but regular human beings.Every mentor has struggles that the protégé never sees. The protégé might say with some hesitation, “My mentor can do this, but I don’t know if I’ll ever make it because I have problems with discipline (or doubt, or self-worth, or fatigue).” Ask your mentor to share her/his struggles, along with the success stories they re trying to teach.
  5. A TeacherMany people do things well, but don’t know how to tell another person how they did it. At one time they learned how to do a given exercise (an accounting practice, a writing style, a trick of the trade) but have long since forgotten how they do it. Look for a mentor who can tell you how and why s/he did, or didn’t, do something.
  6. One Who Believes in Your PotentialMy father-in-law, Joe Kimbel, is one of my life mentors. Once he introduced me to his friends by saying, “I’d like to have you meet my son-in-law, Bobb Biehl.” Then he added, “Some day they’ll say, ‘I’d like to have you meet Joe Kimbel, Bobb Biehl’s father-in-law.’” That very thing happened 20 years later in Orlando, Fla., and I was humbled when I recalled his gracious prediction.Your ideal mentor needs to be the kind of person who looks at you and says, “Yes, I think this person has tremendous potential. I think if I invest some of my life in this person, she/he has what it takes to make a real difference.” Surprisingly, most Christian leaders with whom I have worked say they have never had a single person say to them, “You are a leader!”
  7. One Who Can Help You Define Your Dream and a Plan to Turn Your Dream into RealityIdeally, you are looking for a mentor who can help you clarify things that are in your head and in your heart. The mentor helps you answer the “dream question”: “How can I make the most significant difference for God in my lifetime?”Once clear, the ideal mentor can help you decide which of these dreams seem realistic and which do not.Note: Just because your mentor says you can or cannot achieve something doesn’t necessarily make it so. Your mentor is simply a human being trying her/his best to help you. Take their input seriously. The final decision, and responsibility, of the direction of your life obviously rests with you. Mentors are just there to help.Once the realism factor has been established, she/he can help you develop a plan to move from where you are to where you ultimately dream of being.
  8. Successful in Your EyesYou must feel that your mentor is the kind of person you would like to be like some day, in some ways.
  9. Open to Learning From You, As Well As Teaching YouThis might sound odd as a prerequisite for being a good mentor because it seems like the mentor’s job is to teach and the protégé’s job is to learn. But I have found that if I remain teachable, then I am modeling the teachability that I want my protégé to have. You can learn from everyone. What’s more, I have found that as a mentor pours himself into a person and gives and gives and gives, sooner or later that person in whom he has invested so much will want to give something back.Let’s say I, as your mentor, have a whole sack of oranges. You’re thirsty and I give you some of my oranges. Sooner or later you’ll want to give something back to me. You might say, “How about a tangerine from me?” If I say “No, thank you,” that makes it seem as though what I give is valuable but what you give is not. It shuts off the chemistry. If I the mentor can learn from you, then suddenly mentoring becomes a two-way street. You think to yourself, “Hey, my mentor respects me” (and vice versa).
  10. Willing to Stay Primarily on Your Agenda, Not Her/His OwnThis is part of the definition of the mentoring relationship.

Bottom Line

In all of your analysis, be careful not to forget the simple truth that what you’re really looking for is a person who you know cares for you, believes in you, and encourages you. A good mentor is a person who you naturally enjoy being with, who has more experience than you have, who would be happy to help you win in life, to help you grow in sensitive areas most other friends simply “put up with” on a day to day basis. If you have found this person you have found a mentor.

Fuel For Creativity

Why are so many of us consumed by the events taking place in fictional lives on television?
It seems as if human beings have often listened to stories, whether around prehistoric campfires or in front of modern-day television screens. But what is this fascination with people who don’t exist and situations that have not taken place, often to the detriment of those who do exist and that which has taken place?
It all makes for really large business, from film and television to books and stage plays. Numerous lives are literally devoted to creating lives which are entirely fictional. And it is with such pastimes that we amuse ourselves in what little free time we have.
Why?
Even those who are busy most of their waking hours, such as doctors and lawyers, will make time to follow their favorite show on television or read a beloved book from beginning to end.
Why?
Why do human beings love to tell and hear stories so much?
Unique among the animals, it would seem, we have a literal need to imagine, to suppose, to conceive. We like to make believe. We see more than there is to see.
And so it is that many among us believe in ghosts and other supernatural phenomenon. And this need persists even in our scientific age, only the phantasms have taken on new forms, “scientifically correct” ones involving alien abductions.
This need comes out of our very nature as human beings. Our brains are pattern-making machines; their purpose is to perceive patterns and derive meaning. Birds want to fly, fish want to swim, and human beings want meaning. We want things to make sense. This requires imagination. And like a fire which is constantly burning, our creativity needs a lot more fuel – which is the stuff of our dreams, are made of.
